Welcome to the service schools mobility toolkit

SCE is dedicated to the education of the children of Service Children. In keeping with the patterns of service life, children enter and leave school far more frequently than is usual in non-service schools.

Every school in SCE is constantly looking at how it can improve all areas of school life for the highly mobile learners in their care. This includes improving the standards of teaching and learning, preparing children for life-long learning, involving parents as much as possible in the education of their children and in ensuring that the school is a safe and positive learning environment for all.

A bank of effective practice and resources has been collected and incorporated into this interactive and continually updated toolkit. Sponsored by NCSL and supported by SCISS and CEAS, it is hoped that it will support the development of seamless transition from school to school by all students across all phases.

High rates of student-mobility are a defining feature of SCE schools and almost all SCE students attend several schools. The guidance andn examples detailed in this web-resource are intended to assist students, their parents/carers, teaching and administrative staff in ensuring that the experience of moving schools is positive and life-enhancing.
